I'm normally not very involved in world events, and if I'm lucky I watch the news once a week, when I'm having dinner at my parents' house. And even though I'm interested then, I just don't think about watching the news when I'm at home, which shows that all the terrible and interesting things I see on the news on Wednesday evening just slide past me. Tonight, however, a tiny little tidbit stuck by me. Tomorrow is the 5-year anniversary of the war in Iraq. Because of this lovely celebration (please, please note the sarcasm) the NOS-Journaal presented us with some facts.

Over the past 5 years, the war in Iraq has cost America 730 billion dollars.

This is 400 million a day.

Approximately 17 million an hour.

275.000 dollars a minute.

I could go all super-research girl and find out how much they export and import and all of those lovely factoids so I could be absolutely sure, but there's a big part of me that says that this might just possibly be a big cause of the economic recession over there.

But this isn't really my point. I don't think I even really have a point, to be honest; I just can't get over that number, that amount. 730 billion. That's 730.000.000.000. Seven hundred and thirty billion. Can you just imagine the things that money could've done?
